Bournemouth aviation museum situated opposite Bournemouth airport is always a favourite to visit, with a reasonable admission cost £7 adults £3 children (information correct of my last visit 2020) is run by enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers who make sure the exhibitions, grounds and visitor experience is always highly maintained. as you enter the museum there’s usually a board with Bournemouth movements that day, so you can take the opportunity to see some arrivals and departures.
The real selling point of this museum is how hands on it is, almost every aircraft you can sit in the cockpits, which is almost unheard of at other museums, plus a flight simulator and watching what’s near by on flightrader, as well as being able to hear Bournemouth tower on a radio. One of the highlights is the Vulcan bomber cockpit which is tight for one person let alone a full flight crew !! I also really like the viewing platforms offering great views of Bournemouth airport. Other exhibitions of note Boeing 737 former palmair which operated out of Bournemouth for bath travel. The Jaguar and hawker Hunter! My brothers particular favourite the lightening also has a home at this wonderful museum. Whilst it doesn’t have the vast collections of exhibits that other places around the country it’s still a must for any local enthusiast.
there is a small shop selling aviation memorabilia as well as snacks,.
