Bournemouth movements update March 2021

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

Bournemouth airport like everywhere else has suffered massively from the covid pandemic with no passenger flights currently operating from Bournemouth.

we do of course get spoiled with cargo flights, our army of A340’s are still flying regularly to the Far East and also New York. The only frustration is trying to judge when these planes are going to depart, they’re easier to track on the homeward journey although they tend to land at night or early in the morning, we were used to seeing just 3 A340’s but we’ve now got 4 regular A340’s with the ex Etihad A340 joining the fleet with her plain white livery, a difference from the other European cargo with red engines and tail, for a couple of weeks cargojet sent a B767 the 1st time it arrived in the dark and left in the dark, 2nd time whilst arrive in dark it left at dusk giving the opportunity to grab some photos. Just as well as it hasn’t yet returned !

Football specials. being some what along way from a lot of northern clubs we receive both away teams and afc Bournemouth flying out, Bournemouth generally leave on Loganair E190’s or E145’s whilst the away teams generally arrive on the Jota RJ100, Southampton airport being a bit rubbish shuts early so they tend to fly back in to bmth after departing Southampton during the day. These are British Airways E190’s there’s always something special about seeing British Airways at Bournemouth and I find it quite disappointing we didn’t get routes after they stored planes at bmth during the 1st lockdown.

Military use. the last few weeks Bournemouth have hosted some of Brize Norton’s main stars, Hercules have become a regular sight, the impressive globe master did a few touch and goes recently, Sunday just gone a A400m came to visit which was most unexpected !!! And whilst catching almost everyone off guard a Eurofighter did a fly past, the noise was unreal I could still hear it 25 miles away, even more impressive it did bmth to Bristol then up to Hull in about 30 minutes !!!

The good news Ryanair have announced flights starting again at the end of March so expect a few B737 photos !

Again thank you for supporting my media streams
